The customs house stands on the border between two cities, two countries, two political systems, and between the Romanic and Slavic worlds. With Slovenia's entry into the Schengen Area, Nova Gorica finds itself, for the first time in its brief history, without border barriers. That very evening, this once-traumatic space transforms into a space of encounters, where a camera, microphone, computer, and curtain are placed, allowing uninterrupted recollections.
"The goal of memory-giving actions is to create an open archive that evolves over time, becoming a kind of gift that the residents of both cities offer to future generations. Similar to a family album, whose meaning lies in its unfinished nature, the memory archive is in a constant process of creation and rearticulation." - Anja Medved
